History

The de Anza Golf Course was designed in 1956 by famed course architect Lawrence Hughes. It is a challenging but fun 6,778-yard par 72 layout and is perfect for golfers of all levels. The first nine holes were built in 1958. The second nine and clubhouse were completed the following year. The American and English Ryder Cup teams were attracted to the course and played their Pro-Am event here in November 1959.

de Anza Country Club has undergone extensive renovations and remodeling through the years. In 1985, a one million dollar renovation to the clubhouse took place, enlarging the dining area and kitchen, adding the garden room and a women’s locker room. The Pro Shop was re-located to a new building and a new cart barn built. In 1994, the 15th hole was remodeled from tee–to-green by golf course architect Fred Bliss to add interest and excitement to the back nine.

Remodeling of the Coyote Den occurred in 1995 with the Big Horn Grill following in 1996. In 1998, both the dining room and women’s locker room were remodeled. Remodeling of the 13th hole rounded out 1998’s activities. The men’s locker room was remodeled and enlarged in 2002.
